How do you ensure no one is missed by life-saving health services?

You map where everyone lives and give health workers the tools to get there.

WHAT IS REVEAL?

Reveal is an approved Global Good through Digital Square and is featured in the World Health Organization’s Digital Health Atlas.

Reveal supports decision makers and intervention managers by guiding and tracking delivery of in-field activities with precision and holding field teams accountable for action. Reveal uses smart maps and technology appropriate for low-resource settings to monitor coverage of interventions as they happen. Modeled on the mSpray and DiSARM tool, Reveal helps to optimize available resources and ensure no one is missed in the process.

Plan

Satellite imagery is enumerated to create maps for targeted intervention planning.

Navigate

An in-field application uses maps and GPS to guide teams to service delivery areas.

Monitor

Mid- and high-level administrators use tailored dashboards to monitor intervention progress in near real time.

Adjust

Using these dashboards, administrators are able to course correct mid- based on field progress and obtain true coverage rates.

COVID-19 Support

The total number of COVID-19 deaths worldwide has now exceeded 3.5 million, with the number of fully vaccinated lagging far behind and unevenly distributed. Reveal uses spatial intelligence to fill these gaps and ensure high vaccine coverage.

Reveal is currently used in ten countries across Africa and Asia to amplify impact against malaria, vaccine preventable diseases, and neglected tropical diseases like schistosomiasis and trachoma. The building blocks have been created to expand to support COVID-19 microplanning and COVAX distribution, which can be applied in the stepwise fashion below, based on local context.

Tier 1 — paper planning maps

Reveal is used by Ministries of Health and their partners to operationalize existing data products (GRID3 and others) by creating hyperlocal paper planning maps that show priority and target population estimates. Decision makers plan, target, and monitor commodity distribution, communication strategies, humanitarian aid, and demand generation efforts.

TIER 2 — Web-based Planning Module

Users upload population data layers, vulnerability risk models, and points of interest, including COVAX or humanitarian aid distribution locations. Decision makers then use the planning module to identify target areas and to create a time-bound plan for point-based and targeted campaigns.

TIER 3 — Mobile App + web-based planning module

Staff supporting vaccine campaigns use Reveal digital maps to navigate to distribution sites (point-based or household), and to capture data ensuring real-time data collection for monitoring campaign equity and coverage against targets. Targeted behavior change campaigns may also be operationalized through Reveal. If vaccine hesitancy persists, or low coverage rates are a challenge, the Reveal approach increases true coverage in a targeted, equity-forward manner.

GUIDE TEAMS ACCURATELY

Failing to deliver important health interventions to all households means leaving families vulnerable to some of the world’s most threatening health concerns—like malaria and measles.

Reveal uses interactive maps that can be tailored to specific country settings. This customized technology can guide and monitor progress of field campaigns. With these maps and the data collection they facilitate, access to data for decision making is more transparent and improves coverage and optimization of resources.
